You need to start marketing (in every sense of the word). Some people will default straight to social media, and assume that social media is the answer to online marketing. But, this is a very short sighted view. If you decided to promote your shoe store in the high street, would you only use one form of marketing, or would you diversify your marketing strategy? Social media marketing on numerous sites

Let’s get the whole “social media” portion out of the way. Social media is one means of marketing your commercial site. Set up a Facebook Fan page and a Google+ Page. Set up a Twitter profile in order to promote it, and consider a few of the other mainstream social media networks too such as Pinterest and YouTube. Just keep in mind that social media is only one part of your overall marketing campaign. Do not devote too much time to it at the expense of other means.

It is great for commercial sites because you can fund your affiliate advertising with the money you make from conversions. Keep a close eye on your analytics and see which of your adverts is pulling in paying customers. The people who buy from you because of your affiliate adverts are giving you profit that you can re-invest into building up your affiliate advertising campaign.

Search engine optimization should be a priority

Get your website a little higher on the Google search engine results pages. You do not have to be on the top, but within the first top ten is going to give you a great traffic boost. Just make sure that you are optimizing for words that your target audience are going to type into Google. If you are the top result for search engine searches that are unrelated to your website, then you are not going to attract any paying customers.

Linking from blogs is one way

A link from a blog is going to increase your SEO if it is from a relevant post or relevant blog. Not only is it going to help you to rise up through the search engine results page, it may even give you some direct traffic. If the traffic on the blog is made up of your target audience, then you may gain a little direct traffic that is going to turn into paying customers.

Link from article sites

The same principle applies with article sites as with blogs. If you write articles that are going to interest your target audience, then you are going to attract a bit of direct traffic. Plus, as with blogs, it is going to help your website SEO and help you to get nearer the top of the search engine results page.

Promote your products on blogs and article sites

Instead of writing articles that interest your target audience in a roundabout way, why not simply promote your products? They are going to look like big adverts so they are not going to have a massive readership, but if people who are looking to buy products that you sell happen upon the blog or article site, your promotional content may sway them into buying from you.


Review your products and service in the name of others

People look for reviews of the products or services that they are planning on buying. There are going to be a few reviews of your service or products that have been written by other people. So, why not write a few yourself? Plus, if you state that the author is not yourself (set up a fake profile), then people may be more inclined to believe what they read.

Make your commercial website dynamic to appeal to mobile users

This just means making your website able to convert into a mobile website if someone views it with a mobile device. You have then increased your potential readership and visitor pool.

Advertise offline so that mobile browsers may visit

If your website is dynamic, then start advertising your commercial site offline. People are out and about when they use their phone to look at websites, so find places where people with Smartphones are going to congregate and advertise there. It will take them seconds to search out and find your site, after which they may even make a purchase.
